1. An inversion injury is apt to stress the lateral ligaments of the ankle joint.
2. The calcaneofibular ligament is at risk in the case of eversion injury.
3. Point tenderness at the tubercle of the 5th metatarsal may signal avulsion of the tendons of peroneus longus tendon and peroneus tertius.
4. Tears of periosteum along the origin of tibialis anterior may cause the symptoms of shin splints.
5. Anterior compartment syndrome is expected to decrease the dorsalis pedis pulse.
6. Decrease sensation between the web of the 2nd and 3rd toe paired with decreased dorsalis pedis pulse is suggestive of lateral compartment syndrome.
7. The lateral side of the plantar surface of the foot has a dermatomal disturbance. The problem may be in the gluteal region.
8. Pertubation of the S1 dorsal root ganglion may affect sensation on the plantar surface of the foot.
